Preparation
Before connecting your Amcrest camera to the HITOSINO PoE NVR via ONVIF, ensure the following:
- Reset the Amcrest camera to its factory default settings.
- Install the ConfigTool software on your computer.
- Have the username and password for your HITOSINO NVR ready.
- Ensure ONVIF is enabled on the Amcrest camera, which is typically enabled by default.
Setup Guide
Now, let's start setting up your system step by step.
Step 1. Adjust Your PoE IP System Connection
To set up your Amcrest camera on your computer, slightly modify the system connection by changing the network cable from the NVR’s LAN port to a PoE port. This adjustment ensures that the camera, computer, and router are on the same LAN, allowing direct access and management of the camera from your computer.
1.Regular Connection:
2. Adjusted Connection: switch the cable from the NVR’s LAN port to one of its PoE ports.
Step 2. Modify the IP Address of Your Amcrest PoE Camera
This is a vital step for achieving a successful setup. Accurately setting the IP address can be challenging, even for experienced users. During setup, please keep in mind that the network camera's IP address must be on the same LAN as the PoE NVR’s built-in IP address to allow for proper communication and data transfer.
1. Launch ConfigTool: Run ConfigTool on your computer. If you don’t see the Amcrest device, click refresh. If the Notice window pops up, check 'Don't prompt again' and click OK.
The default password for the Amcrest camera is "admin" If you have never changed your password, you can skip this step. If you have changed the password, please go to Search Settings and enter the revised password to modify its IP address. Please refer to the image below:
2. Set IP Address: Click on Edit of the camera, input valid IP addresses in the circled areas, and then click OK.
As you may know, for HITOSINO/HIKVISION PoE NVRs, the built-in IP address is 192.168.254.x. Therefore, to ensure the Amcrest camera can properly communicate with the Hikvision/HITOSINO PoE NVR, the IP address of the third-party Amcrest camera must be changed to 192.168.254.x, where 'x' can be any number from 2 to 254, but must not conflict with your existing network devices. Additionally, set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and the gateway to 192.168.254.1, making sure the fourth digit is 1. For detailed information on IP address setup, check our tutorial.
A green check mark shows the IP address was changed successfully.
The following steps will be performed on the monitor of your security system.
Step 3. Add Your Amcrest Camera to HITOSINO/HIKVISION PoE NVR
1. Unbind PoE Port: Go to Configuration > Camera > PoE Binding Configuration, uncheck the channel occupied by the Amcrest camera, and click Apply.
2. Add Amcrest Camera: Navigate to the IP Channel, select the Amcrest camera from the Online Device List, and refresh if it doesn’t appear.
3. Edit Ancrest Camera Settings: Click Edit on the Amcrest camera from the Added Device List, input the password, and click OK.
Once all settings are correctly applied, a green check mark will appear, indicating a successful connection.
