How to add a Dahua/Valucam camera to a HITOSINO POE NVR via ONVIF

Integrating security devices from different brands via ONVIF can always be challenging. As a well-known brand ranked 2nd in the video surveillance industry, Dahua IP cameras are extremely popular. Therefore, integration issues with NVRs from other brands are common. Today, we will walk you through the steps to connect your Dahua/Valucam camera to a HITOSINO PoE NVR, ensuring seamless interoperability and a unified security system. Follow these steps to avoid compatibility issues and enhance your security setup.

Preparation
Before starting, make sure you have the following:
- Reset Camera: Reset your Dahua/Valucam camera to factory settings.
- Install ConfigTool: Ensure the Dahua ConfigTool is installed on your computer.
- Prepare NVR credentials: Have the username and password for your HITOSINO NVR ready.
Connection method
To set up your Dahua/Valucam camera on your computer, slightly modify the system connection by changing the network cable from the NVR’s LAN port to a PoE port.
Regular Connection:

Adjusted Connection: adjust the cable from the NVR’s LAN port to one of its PoE ports.

This connection ensures the camera, computer, and router are on the same LAN, enabling direct access to the camera on the computer.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Initialize Dahua /Valucam PoE camera
1. Run ConfigTool: Open the Dahua ConfigTool on your computer.
If your Valucam/ Dahua device isn’t visible, click refresh. If the Notice window pops up, check 'Don't prompt again' and click OK.

2. Initialize Dahua/Valucam Camera: Select the uninitialized Dahua/Valucam camera and click Initialize.

3. Set Your Password: Enter and confirm your password, choose your video format, click Next, and then OK to finish.

The green tick shown below signifies successful camera initialization.

Step 2: Configure the Dahua/Valucam Camera's IP Address
Setting the IP address correctly is crucial for a successful setup. The network camera’s IP address must be in the same network segment as the PoE NVR’s built-in IP address.
1. Credentials Confirmation: Click Search Setting, input admin and the password you just set, and click OK. This step ensures you will be able to make any changes to the selected camera.

2. Edit the camera’s IP settings: Click Edit next to the camera, enter valid IP information, and then click OK.

To ensure seamless communication between the NVR and a third-party camera like the Dahua/Valucam model, it's essential to set the camera's IP address settings to be on the same network segment as the built-in IP address of the PoE NVR. For HITOSINO or Hikvision PoE NVRs, the default built-in IP address is 192.168.254.x. Therefore, we need to set the camera IP address settings as follows:
- Target IP: 192.168.254.x (x = 2 to 254, ensure no conflicts with other network devices).
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.254.1 (The fourth digit must be 1)
For detailed IP address configuration theory, check our tutorial on YouTube.
The green check mark indicates the IP address has been successfully modified. Refresh the list to confirm the new IP address.

The following steps will be performed on your security system monitor.
Step 3: Add the Dahua or Valucam PoE camera to HITOSINO/HIKVISION NVR
1. Unbind PoE Port: Navigate to Configuration> Camera> PoE Bingding Configuration, uncheck the channel used by the Dahua/ Valucam camera, then click Apply.

2. Add Dahua/Valucam camera: Go to the IP Channel and choose the Dahua/Valucam camera from the Online Device List. If it doesn’t show up, refresh the list.

3. Edit Dahua/Valucam Camera Settings: In the Added Device List, select the Dahua/Valucam camera and click Edit. Enter the password and confirm by clicking OK.

The green tick signifies your camera has been successfully added.

After successfully adding the Dahua/Valucam camera, revert to your regular connection.
