How to Add a Hitosino Branded Value Series Camera to a Dahua PoE NVR via ONVIF
Dahua, ranked second in the global security industry, is a trusted name in video surveillance. However, integrating cameras from other brands with Dahua NVRs is a common challenge faced by many. If you're looking to connect a HITOSINO branded Value Series camera to a Dahua PoE NVR via ONVIF, this guide is designed to help you navigate the process with ease.
Simply Understanding the ONVIF Protocol
ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) is a collaborative platform designed to unify standards for IP security systems. This fosters compatibility across a range of brands, making it simpler to integrate diverse security technologies. Learn more about ONVIF.
Preparation
Before connecting your HITOSINO camera to the Dahua PoE NVR using ONVIF, please ensure:
- Reset camera: Reset your HITOSINO camera to its factory settings.
- Install SADP: Download and install SADP on your computer.
- Prepare NVR credentials: Have the username and password for your Dahua NVR ready.
- Connect to Monitor: Ensure your current system is connected to a monitor to configure settings via the Dahua NVR GUI.
Connection method
Regular connection:
Adjusted connection: change the cable from NVR’s LAN port to one of its PoE ports.
This adjustment ensures your camera, computer, and router are on the same LAN, enabling direct access and control of the camera from your computer.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Initialize HITOSINO Camera
1. Run SADP: Open SADP on your computer. If the camera does not appear, click “Refresh”.
2. Activate Camera: Check the box next to your camera, enter and confirm your password, and finally click “Activate”.
The green check mark indicates the IP camera has been successfully activated.
3. Set “Security Question”: Click "Cancel" or set and confirm the “Security Question” for password recovery in the pop-up window. In this example, we clicked the close button.
Unlike Hikvision and HITOSINO white-label IP cameras, our HITOSINO branded Value series cameras have ONVIF pre-enabled by default. Therefore, you can proceed directly to the following steps.
Step 2: Modify the IP Address of the HITOSINO Camera via SADP
This step is vital for subsequent setup. Please keep in mind that the IP address of the IP camera must be on the same network segment as the NVR’s built-in IP address to ensure communication and data transfer.
For Dahua PoE NVRs, the default IP address is 10.1.1.x. You need to set the camera’s IP address to 10.1.1.x, where x can be any number from 2 to 254 but should be unique to avoid conflicts with other network devices. Make sure the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 and the gateway is 10.1.1.1.
Important Notice:
HITOSINO branded Value series cameras have DHCP enabled by default, with the “Enable DHCP” box checked in SADP.
- If your router supports DHCP, your camera will automatically be assigned a new IP address. If the assigned IP address is on the same network segment as the built-in IP address of your PoE NVR, you can skip this step.
- If your router doesn’t support DHCP or your camera fails to get a valid address, please follow the next steps. Here we assume the IP address is not valid.
1. Uncheck ‘Enable DHCP’: Select the camera from the SADP lists, and uncheck “Enable DHCP” to manually modify the IP address.
2. Modify IP address: Input valid addresses and your password, then click “Modify”.
If you need more detailed IP address modification videos, check out our tutorial on YouTube.
Refresh the page to see the new IP address you just modified for the HITOSINO camera.
The following steps will be operated on your monitor of your security system.
Step 3: Add the HITOSINO Camera to Dahua PoE NVR
1. Add Camera Manually: Go to Main Menu>CAMERA>Manual Add, facilitating manual camera addition.
2. Configure Camera Settings: In the pop-up window, select the channel your camera is connected to, set ONVIF as the manufacturer, and input the modified IP address and password. Click "Connect" and then"OK”.
The green status means the camera has been added successfully.
After successfully adding the HITOSINO/HIKVISION camera, be sure to switch back to your original network connection.
However, if you're unable to add cameras to your NVR, check your camera’s time settings. If your HITOSINO camera shows the incorrect time, follow these steps to sync it with your computer:
- Go to Configuration>System>System Settings>Time Settings, click the box next to “Sync. With computer time”, then click “Save”.
Your camera’s time will now match your computer’s time, ensuring proper ONVIF functionality.
