A Dahua 5MP IP camera records at 2592 × 1944 resolution, producing approximately five million pixels per frame. Its 4:3 image format provides a taller view than the 16:9 format commonly used by 4MP cameras, making it particularly useful for ceiling-mounted and overhead surveillance.
With 1,944 vertical pixels compared with 1,440 pixels at 2560 × 1440, a 5MP camera provides 35% more vertical pixels. This added resolution can preserve more detail when monitoring people, products, labels, and activity below the camera.
The taller 4:3 image can cover more of a vertically oriented scene, such as a warehouse aisle, production line, gaming table, or retail floor. This makes Dahua 5MP cameras a practical option where vertical coverage is more important than the wider horizontal view provided by a 16:9 camera.
Identification performance still depends on the camera lens, mounting height, viewing angle, lighting, and distance to the subject. For installations 15–30 feet above the floor, these factors should be evaluated together with resolution.

Power over Ethernet
Compatible models support PoE for transmitting power and video data through a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable. The applicable PoE standard should be confirmed on each model’s specification sheet.
H.265 and H.265+ compression
Supported models use H.265 or H.265+ encoding to reduce bandwidth and storage requirements compared with H.264. Actual savings depend on scene activity, image settings, frame rate, and recorder configuration.
