About Hikvision Turret Cameras

Adjustable Eyeball Camera Design

A turret camera allows the installer to set the viewing direction by adjusting the camera head inside its housing.

For example, the Hikvision DS-2CD2347G2-L(U) supports 360° pan adjustment and up to 75° tilt adjustment during installation.

This is useful when mounting a camera beneath an eave or on a ceiling where the lens must face away from the mounting surface.

The viewing direction remains fixed after installation. A standard turret camera does not automatically pan and tilt like a PTZ camera.

Nighttime Illumination and Camera Positioning

Hikvision turret cameras have an exposed front lens assembly rather than the full transparent outer bubble used by traditional dome cameras.

This avoids infrared reflection from a curved dome cover. However, nearby walls, soffits and other reflective surfaces can still send light back toward the lens.

The DS-2CD2383G2-I(U) uses infrared illumination, with a specified range of up to 30 m.

The DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL uses Smart Hybrid Light, combining infrared and white-light illumination.

The lens direction and placement of nearby surfaces remain important for both lighting systems.
